Also went to the opening of the newly renovated Auckland Art Gallery. It was awesome. I love that moment when you see an artwork you've only ever seen as photos/images and suddenly it is in front of you. That sense of familiarity. I guess it would be a similar feeling to meet a celebrity you really like. It feels like you are meeting the artist himself/herself and there is a whole new dimension of appreciation for the work. Every little detail can be observed. The works glow with a strange sort of energy and life that cannot be felt through photos. There were a few moments where I just stood and tried find out a way to absorb the artwork in some way.
It felt disrespectful and also just not right to take photos of these works with my phone's camera, so I didn't.
Oh and I found out today that the reason my face gets red is because of some condition. I forgot the name, but yeah. My cheeks go red at random situations. When I'm happy, stressed, bored, tired, just talking, walking...Sometimes I don't even know that they have gone red. But there is a name for this so it must mean that a significant number of people have this 'condition'. Whew, I'm not the only one.
Gotta go and prepare my portfolio and documents for the University of Melbourne now. Yeeeeee! I am looking forward to next year already.
Happy happy happy.
Or glücklich glücklich glücklich in German (I think). ARR I want to be good at German.
