OH DEAR

I ONLY HAVE 6 DAYS LEFT IN MELBOURNE :(((

Oh gosh...
I know I will come back some time in the future. But still...
It will not be the same...*tear*

I should just stop being so sad and instead, make the most of the time I've got left.

Say "yay"!
Yay yay yay!

Yeah... I'm feeling a little bit better now.

Hmmmmm.

Things that make my return less painful:
-Tori
-A handful of friends
-The fact that I can jog around Lake Pupuke
-Revive cafe
-Family
-Takapuna beach
-Yoga/pilates classes
-Trip to Queenstown
-Melbourne-friends visiting NZ
-Everything is cheaper in NZ

ESSAY STRESS

Still have more than 1000 words left to write.

Today I ate
-Vietnamese Noodles
-Pancakes at the Pancake Parlour
-Half a block of Lindt chocolate
-A slice of cafe-style raisin loaf
-Plus before going out to dinner I ate heaps of stuff (curried lentils, sweet potato and soymilk, laughing cow cheese, hot chocolate, black tea with soymilk and honey...etc etc)

WHY!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I'm not even hungry.
I'm actually SO full.
I have to write my essay but I just find myself constantly doing something else and eating.
If I was writing my essay about the contents of my fridge, I would probably get an A+ because I've been doing so much research for last few days on what food is available in my fridge.

Oh btw, yesterday I had dumplings from Dumpling Plus. They were really yuck. Like really really yuck. And their milk tea was so yuck too. Oh well.

On another note, the baguette roll/sandwich thingies on Flinders Lane are SO yum. Yum.

I have pins and needles. Ouch.

D:

315 words done.
2685 more to go.

I'm drinking so much black tea.
But not sure if I'm just drinking warm soy milk.
(I'm mixing half a cup of tea with half a cup of soy milk).

**Update**
-I drank more than 15 cups of tea today. I am drinking more tea as I am writing this right now.
-My 1 litre bottle of soy milk which was nearly full in the morning, is now empty.
D:  How will I cook my oatmeal tomorrow morning!? I will just have to cook it in plain old water.

BANANA BREAD

Banana Bread : The utopian state to which all bananas aspire
(Definition from some food blog haha)

But seriously, this is actually true – at least for the bananas in my apartment. My housemate makes THE MOST DELICIOUS banana bread/cake in the world. Like actually. I know because I have eaten a lot of banana cakes in my lifetime. (It's not an achievement that I'm particularly proud of... haha).

If I was a banana, I would be so happy and reassured knowing that I was going to become a banana cake made by my housemate.

IT'S SO EASY TO COOK RICE

On Friday I cooked rice for the first time since arriving in Melbourne. (It has been around three months since I've arrived.) Actually, it was the first time in my life cooking rice all on my own! (And I didn't even use a rice cooker. I just used a pot on the stovetop).

It was so easy!
I should cook rice more often.
But cooking side dishes is bothersome and takes up a lot of time.
And there is a lot of cleaning up to do afterwards. So I'm not sure if it's worth it.
I think it's better to just eat out if I feel like eating Asian food.

Sandwiches and pasta are so much easier and quicker to make.

FITZROY ART WALK

Went on a walk through Fitzroy looking for street art.

PERTH

I overheard a conversation between two Aussies yesterday.
They were talking about Perth.

Person A said "I used to live in Perth"
Person B replied "How did you LIVE in Perth? In Perth you don't LIVE, you just EXIST"

 Haha

GROCERY LIST

A list of things I bought today at the market/grocery store:
-tomatos
-apples
-mandarins
-pears
-onions
-mesculin
-corguettes
-mini eggplants (I have no idea what I'm going to do with these)
-feta cheese
-organic chickpeas

Plus I ate half a dozen fresh oysters. Yum!!!

Seriously, I don't know what I'm going to do with the mini eggplants. I just bought them because they looked so cute, and I've never seen mini eggplants before. Eggplants are yum, but I have no idea how to cook them.

OH WELL

I exercised heaps in the morning today.
I got home and my housemate had baked a batch of her amazing brownies.
I ate 4 servings of brownies, 50g of walnuts, and 100g of almonds.
Nice

Possible reasons I am gaining weight:

  • My housemate bakes the best cookies and cakes I have ever tasted
  • A nut store is just a 2 min walk from my apartment. I buy a 100g of almonds almost every morning on the way to school. Some times I buy more one the way home.
  • Lots of parties and events with free food (mostly pizza and sweets)
  • I do the groceries and always make sure I have a plentiful supply of peanut butter

LIST OF SPORTS I LIKE

Yay, time for another list.

Here is a list of sports I like:
-Kayaking
-Snowboarding
-Scuba Diving
-Boogie boarding (not really a sport. I would like to be able to surf.)
-Walking (My fav! I love walking. I could just walk for hours. So nice.)
-Rock Climbing
-Pilates
-Tennis

I think I like solitary sports. I shall do more of these once I get back to NZ.

I also want to try sky diving! But it's quite pricey.

Arr, although my mum tried very hard to get me to play golf, it really is not my thing. I can play, but I much rather prefer following and watching people who play golf. Just walking around the field and observing is much more fun.

Sunday, May 6

OH GOSH...WHY...

I made pea + pesto pasta today
I invented it myself. (Yes, I invented pea and pesto)
It smells like dog food.
And I've made like 5 servings.
I don't want to eat it.

:(

I will never add canned peas to anything ever again.

Saturday, May 5

OH MAE JAO

Haha I like saying "oh mae jao!"

Hmmm. I've asked for my acne medication to be posted out to my apartment in Melb.
I've been going out to eat (both lunch and dinner) every day for the last two weeks.
And... my skin is starting to protest.

I shall be taking acne medication once more. I know that it comes with a side effect of becoming quite gloomy and slightly depressed. But I reckon it's worth it. And anyway, I am so happy and jolly, I don't think the pills will have too much of an effect on my mood. There is too much to be happy about. I don't have time to be gloomy haha.

A REALLY GOOD DAY

I had a particularly good day today.

I feel so grateful for everything.

Some of the people I have met in Melbourne are the nicest people I have ever met in my life.
I love it here. Life is just so good.

SO SLEEPY

Today, on my way to school I had some extra time so I stopped at a park to have a short rest. I was sitting on a nice patch of grass with half of my body in the sunlight and half in the shade. It was so nice, I decided to lie down.

Then I fell asleep and woke up 2 hours later.

Shite.

So I didn't get much work done today.
But I had the best nap of my life.

Oh, and I've noticed recently that my hair just turns brown once it gets to a certain length. Yussss. Free brown hair.

A few nights ago I watched Schlafkrankheit (Sleeping Sickness) which was part of the German Film Festival. It was at Kino Theatres. It is SO nice there. It is part of a hotel complex and has nice roomy, soft seats. It is quite small and cosy (which I like). And they have olive-oil-popped popcorns! Oh and the movie itself was quite interesting.

Oh and today, I ate 100grams of dry roast almonds again. My conversations with the store owner are getting longer.

MY FAVOURITE PARK

My favourite park.
It's where I draw, read, eat, rest and sleep.
Nice, short walk from home.

HEY TUNA!

I bought 5 cans of tuna because they were on sale.
And now I have just read that tuna is really high in mercury and that I should limit myself to one serving of tuna per week (that is one can per week).
Good thing I didn't buy 10 cans (I have less than 10 weeks left in Melbourne).

Ah...Seriously I cannot believe how fast time is passing.
It's like it was Monday just yesterday, but now it's Sunday and Monday is tomorrow.
And it's nearly May.
By early June everything will be finished
And I will return to Auckland.

FITZROY & PRETTY THINGS I'VE BOUGHT

The glass bowl is exclusively for holding almonds. The teapot is for tea. The small white creamer is for milk (for my tea). And I do not know why I bought those two door knobs. I have absolutely no use for them. I can't even use them back home in NZ because they are too small. But they were so pretty, I just had to buy them. I'm sure they'll come in handy some day.

EXHAUSTED

Oh my goodness, I cannot believe how tired I am.
So so so so so so so tired.
Stressssssssssss.
Chocolate soy milk.

I am going to go to bed at 8pm tonight, no matter what. Oh my.
