PURPLE FLESH SWEET POTATO

Today someone gave us homemade Jjin-Bbang (steamed dough buns with red bean paste inside). But these ones had a sweet potato mash inside instead of the usual red bean paste. And the sweet potatoes were the purple Korean sweet potatoes—the ones with purple flesh and purple skin!!!

I just ate the mash inside and ditched the doughy bits so a tray of hollow Jjin-Bbang was left. Mmm purple fleshed purple skinned sweet potatoes...It reminded me of the last time I tried them (which was also the first time I tried them)—at the Nanji campsite in Korea with SNU-Buddies over a year ago. As I was licking out the paste of my forth or fifth Jjin-Bbang, my eyes got teary from memories of Korea and how much fun I had at the campsite, at SNU, and in Seoul. It was quite a funny and sad sight at the same time.

Didn't even know they were available in NZ. I shall find out where to get them, and eat it everyday. And everyday I will feel like I'm back in Korea.
