HAPPY NEW YEAR

2010 was the best year of my life so far.
Each year is always seems to be better than the year before.

But the last two days of 2010 have been quite uneventful. Peaceful, but uneventful.
For example-

1. Mum refilled toilet paper basket with some notably different-looking toilet paper.
We've always had white toilet paper which had slight embossing, discrete patterns, or no patterns at all.
But yesterday when I entered the toilet at around noon, I this is what I found hanging on the toilet roll holder thing --->

It's not clear in the photo, but the bears are really pink - like fluro pink.
It felt bad to use these cute, cuddly, pink, bear patterned pieces of toilet paper in the toilet.
It is a Korean brand, and comes in a whopping 30 roll pack.
I will be visiting these bears in the toilet for the next few weeks, and it will be weird.

I reckon Quilton is a nice toilet paper brand. So soft and quilty(?).

2. I've started reading Life of Pi by Yann Martel.
I've read up to around page 40, and so far it's not the type of book I thought it would be.
From the cover I thought it would be about a boy on an adventure with a tiger and an orangutan, and a zebra. Sort of like in the style of the cartoon 'The Wild Thornberries'. And I thought Pi would talk to these animals like Eliza does.

Okay, I just read the summary on Wikipedia and it seems as though what I have been expecting will happen later on in the book. Woohoo! I better keep reading it.

3. I found and tried on my Puma shoes/boots that I never wear.
The thing is, I bought the shoes (last year) after a very long day of shopping when my feet were swollen. So they were a size too big when I tried wearing it the next day, and also when I tried them on today. But, on the upside, this experience has just confirmed the fact that my feet have not grown bigger over the last year- which is a useful fact to know about myself.

4. I had a cold. It was nice to have people in the house who took care of me.
The last time I had a cold, I was in Korea, all alone, in my room. I had to fight it myself- going to porridge restaurants to get myself some porridge, and I also had to get my own medicine, go to the hospital on my own, and then fall asleep and wake up in a room all by myself. I'm better now, but still have a blocked nose.

5. Went to Rangitoto Island, again.
But this time I didn't go as a rubbish picking, volunteer photographer. I went with all my family (expect Tori, because apparently dogs are not allowed on the island). We went all the way to the top, and shared our new years' resolutions. Everyone suggested I should be less grumpy this year. But I'm NOT GRUMPY! I said. Geez. I am not a grumpy person. And IF I have been a little bit grumpy it's because of the acne pills I'm on. It can even make people feel suicidal. So I think a little bit of grumpiness is reasonable and also acceptable.
