A lot of my posts lately have been related to events that occurred in the garden.
This is another one.
I planted two strawberry seeds just over a month ago.
They grew into strawberry plants, and a couple of weeks ago they started to grow actual strawberries.
The first strawberry was really big, red, and juicy-looking. I left it to get redder.
The next day when I went to pick it, there were bird pecks on it and it was half eaten.
I was angry, but mum bought some strawberries from Foodtown, so all was forgiven.
I still wanted to eat the strawberry I grew with my own two hands.
Later on during the day I checked it again, and it seemed as though the bird came back and ate the rest of the strawberry.
Then a couple of days later, another strawberry grew big and red.
It just needed to get a little bit redder to be edible, so I left it.
Next day, gone.
Then gradually some strawberries started growing at the same time.
Just had to wait a day or two to be just right.
Next day, gone.
This has happened over and over again for about 8 strawberries.
It happened again today.
I have just given up without even being able to taste one proper, red strawberry.
The birds can have my strawberries,
and I can have strawberries from Foodtown.
